About

In this pathway you will learn about the Spintronics, or spin-based electronics, exploits the intrinsic spin of electrons and their associated magnetic moment to process and store information. This course covers the fundamental principles of spintronics, including spin injection, transport, and detection in semiconductors. Key topics include Magnetoresistive Random-Access Memory (MRAM), spin transistors, and their advantages over traditional memory technologies.

After completing this Pathway, you will be able to:

  1. learn how to explore the properties, advantages, and applications of wide bandgap semiconductors, focusing on GaN (gallium nitride) and SiC (silicon carbide)
  2. Classify Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of how these materials enable higher efficiency
  3. Explain greater thermal stability, and enhanced switching speeds compared to traditional silicon-based devices
  4. Analyse the challenges, such as cost and scalability, that come with implementing these advanced materials in commercial applications
